The parent company, which has National Holidays among its businesses, also owned a number of hotel chains.
They were incredibly popular both with people travelling from further afield to those looking for a staycation in the county just a drive away.
Thousands of customers with companies including National Holidays, Shearings and Bay Hotels have now been forced to accept their holidays will not be going ahead.
Meanwhile, 2,500 people have lost their jobs.
The closure is “due to the Covid-19 pandemic”, according to the National Holidays website.
